Synopsis: The night Quin Kincaid takes her Oath, she will become what she has trained to be her entire life. She will become a Seeker. This is her legacy, and it is an honor. As a Seeker, Quin will fight beside her two closest companions, Shinobu and John, to protect the weak and the wronged. Together they will stand for light in a shadowy world. And she’ll be with the boy she loves–who’s also her best friend.
But the night Quin takes her Oath, everything changes. Being a Seeker is not what she thought. Her family is not what she thought. Even the boy she loves is not who she thought.
And now it’s too late to walk away.
Okay, so I liked this one, but there are tons of people who haven’t. They find the settings, timeline, and details confusing. So, for the casual reader, this one may be out. This may change once the movie is made, but YA movies can be a bit of a hit/miss so we’ll see. I do think those who read fantasy, especially high fantasy, will have no problems. The concept is quite intriguing and will keep most readers interested. There will be some reading between the lines, but most questions are unraveled as the story progresses. However, even though many questions are answered, many others are left in their place. I’ll also mention the weird/slightly icky romance/interest with Shinobu for Quin. They’re supposed to be third cousins, so only distantly related but still a bit eh. But considering Clare pushed the boundaries w/the sibling aspect, teens may not care. (Also, if you prefer to read my longer ramblings check out this post)
