Synopsis: Mare Barrow’s world is divided by blood-those with red and those with silver. Mare and her family are lowly Reds destined to serve the silver elite whose supernatural abilities make them nearly gods. Mare steals what she can to help her family survive, but when her best friend is conscripted into the army she gambles everything to win his freedom. A twist of fate leads her to the royal palace itself, where, in front of the king and all his nobles, she discovers a power of her own-an ability she didn’t know she had. Except…her blood is red. To hide this impossibility, the forces her into the role of a lost silver princess and betroths her to one of his own sons. As Mare is drawn further into the silver world, she risks her new position to aid the Scarlet Guard-the leaders of a Red rebellion. Her actions put into motion a deadly and violent dance, pitting prince against prince and Mare against her own heart.

Recommendation: I recommend this books to those who like fantasy and science fiction. This book does also have some romance and action.

My Opinion: I really liked this book. The characters were great and the surprises never stopped. This book was definitely a page turner! The ending is what surprised me the most, but it was a good way to end the book. Mare did some crazy things in this book, but that is what made me like her. Not to mention the crazy things the controlling royal family made her do. There was also a lot of betrayal in this book, but that is what made it interesting. The love square was also interesting but infuriating. Finding out the truth about Mare’s powers and learning about how her powers are different from the Silvers was also interesting and cool.

Overall: This book was great and I couldn’t stop reading it! If you haven’t read it definitely put it on your list of books to read!
