But she was also reckless— straying from the forest path in search of a way to free her world from the threat of eternal darkness. After an illicit meeting goes dreadfully wrong, Rachelle is forced to make a terrible choice that binds her to the very evil she had hoped to defeat. Three years later, Rachelle has given her life to serving the realm, fighting deadly creatures in an effort to atone. When the king orders her to guard his son Armand—the man she hates most—Rachelle forces Armand to help her find the legendary sword that might save their world. As the two become unexpected allies, they uncover far-reaching conspiracies, hidden magic, and a love that may be their undoing. In a palace built on unbelievable wealth and dangerous secrets, can Rachelle discover the truth and stop the fall of endless night? Crimson Bound has something very special. It’s a tale of redemption and hope; How sometimes the one you think you hate will be your salvation and the one you love will be your end. Sacrifice, love, and death all come and work together to create Rosamund Hodge’s very original story inspired by Little Red Riding Hood. Its dark and feels ominous but also has light mixed which over I think makes it’s a worth while read.
There are times when it was a little confusing but once you got past that you could really be absorb into the story.
It starts off with a brave head strong girl, Rachelle who wanted to save her world from the eternal darkness.. but in her own way. When she doesn’t heed her aunt’s warning and a chance meeting leads her to doing the unthinkable, she ends up subcoming to the same darkness she hoped to defeat. Now, three years later serving on the kings court and hoping for a chance at redemption even though she feels beyond forgiveness and love. When the king orders her to protect his son, Armand, they become unexpected allies in their attempt to find a legendary sword that might help them save their world. But there are dark secrets and conspiracies swirling around them; it is going to take a little darkness, a little magic, and a little love if Rachelle is to discover the truth on time.
When the heroes are far from perfect, and the villians seem righteous and justified, you have a story that willl lead you amonk all the time. It is the classic saint vs the sinner: but is each who they say they are? An how can you tell when the lines of good and evil have been blured? Hodge’s story is full of plot twist you’ll see coming and then some you won’t see. However, anyone can see that Crimson Bound is truly spell binding.
