Anatomy of a Misfit follows the basic structure of a chick lit. book. The female main character, Anika Dragomir, has a slight problem (in this case it’s a vampire like dad and a dark mind), she gets into a love triangle (the cool bad boy, Jared Kline, who every girl wants to be used by and the geek turned hottie, Logan McDonough, who is still a social pariah), and then she realizes which boy she really wants to be with. Only this one gets a tragic twist which not only made me cry but explains some chapters that don’t exactly make sense when you read them in context and also leads Anika call out the most popular girl in school, Becky Vilhauer, on all her evil deeds.
I like to think of this book as one of those books you get to read during school. You know the ones you get because it will be easy to put down when you need to and it’s easy to read. I’d give it about 3.8 out of 5 since I enjoyed it but it wasn’t anything really special or unique.
